There are very few registered buildings in Peel. They are:

The Philip Christian Centre,
The Foundry, East Quay,
5 - 9 Charles Street and
1 - 11 Queen Street,
The Kipper Yard, Mill Road and
The Cathedral.

Centenary Centre

In June 2003 the Trust donated £1000 to the new Centenary Centre, an important new venture for Peel in the arts. The donation is in support of our aims both to help in the development of the amenities of Peel and restoration of its important buildings. Find out more at the Centenary Centre website.

War memorial on Peel Hill

Every year on 11th November the
Chairman of the Trust lays a wreath on the stone memorial on the side of Peel Hill in memory of the servicemen from Peel who died in the 2nd World War.

This monument was jointly commissioned by the Peel Royal British Legion and the Trust in 1995. The Peel Town Commissioners have now installed a hand rail to aid access up the steep steps. We have also asked the Forestry Board if they could look into the health of the 25 trees, as one or two look as if they need replacing.

Railway Monument

This display commemorates the first passenger railway on the Island. It includes the original stone water tower next to the former Mill Road level crossing. The exhibit includes a short length of track, level crossing gates, signal (previously used at Lezayre on the Ramsey Line), signal and the body of a coach built in 1873. Work has progressed well on the railway platform and the original lamp is now in place. Please don't be shy at offering help. Call Sam on 842448 or offer help here. In keeping with the Trust's policy of preserving the history of the town wherever possible, the committee recently donated funds to the restoration of the old harbour ferry, which is in the playground of Clothworkers School. The photo from the Leece Museum collection shows the ferry in action.

Other work with the school has included work on the school bell, and exhibitions in the House of Mannanan.
